THAT NIGHT…A POEM BY KAYODE ODUMOSU

THAT NIGHT

Standing on the veranda
The moon dark
As though scolded of God
Your eyes on mine a-roving
The smile on your mouth
Dead enough to be alive
Alive enough to have the strength to die
And then that grin
Of bitterness and disdain
Telling me all I needed to know
The road had ended
And the music was gone
Goodbye my love
Bisi, Goodbye
