SOUNDS OF SILENCE…A POEM WRITTEN 40 YRS AGO BY KAYODE ODUMOSU

SOUNDS OF SILENCE

“Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence”…Simon and Garfunkel

Reflecting
And moody
Twanged across the ages
Of time and superfluous sobriety
Of wars won and lost
Deepening
Into emptiness
Of monstrous anonymity
Hovering
And transforming into
An extra – terrestrial plane
Of terrifying innuendos
Through the light years
To my destiny

But here
Let me wait
In that anonymity
Of deepening emptiness
Heavenly solace!
Restful
Fulfilling sounds
Of silence
Then hush!
Who is there?
But quietly
In thy breast
Hold thy peace
And let no more be said…..74/75
